Talent Pathway 2025 Applications are now OPEN!

We are excited to announce that the 2025 Tackle Guru Angling Trust Talent Pathway applications are now open! Talent Pathway is one of our flagship coaching events for keen young match anglers, and we also use it as the selection process for the England Under 15s team.

Last year, our squad went on to win the World Championship in Serbia, taking team gold, plus individual gold (Barnaby Newman) and silver (Charlie Drinkwater), too! This exciting program consists of two coaching sessions and a final, where students will receive coaching from England Internationals Matt Godfrey, James Dent, and Frankie Gianoncelli.

The fishing and tactics covered are always based around the up-and-coming Youth World Championship, and this year, the U15s team heads to Spain to tackle a river that is prolific with different fish species on both pole and slider tactics.

The Pathway is based centrally for easy all-around access and is an intense three-week course. The first intro and coaching session will take place at Makins Fishery on Saturday, March 29th, 2025. This will introduce you to the methods you’ll need to learn on the Pathway from the coaches before you head off to practice them in the afternoon.

Session two will be slider-based and take place at Meadowlands Fishery on April 5th the following week. The final is fished to match conditions, and coaches will be looking for anglers who can fish pole and slider tactics and display their learning from the previous weeks. This takes place again at Meadowlands on Saturday, April 12th.

We provide Tackle Guru Prep Packs and Mainline Match Bait for everyone taking part, the final has some special Tackle Guru prizes to be won, and the lead coaches use the whole Pathway to select who they feel are the best five anglers to represent England in the World Championship!

To apply, students must be under 15 and over 10 years of age on December 31st, 2024. This is a high-intensity and high-level training program for keen and experienced match anglers. Applicants must have adequate equipment to fish an 11.5m pole in depths up to 10ft of water and 12/13ft float rod and reel setups for slider fishing.
