Aventus Zero900 and Zero700 Poles
Everything you need to know about the flagship range of Aventus poles.
The flagship Aventus pole range took more than three years to develop, produce and extensively test before it was ready to release to the market, and we were happy that it is as good a pole as it is possible to make.
The perfect pole needs to be light, responsive, strong and not sensitive to wind, which proved to be a real challenge as typically a pole that is lightweight doesn’t tend to be as strong; whereas one that is stronger generally contains more carbon and is therefore heavier.
Eventually we came up with what we believed to be the perfect pole design and combination of materials, incorporating our own Guru technology, and which would handle any type of fishing as efficiently and effortlessly as possible.
This led to the birth of the Zero900 pole and over a 24 month period, it was then tested extensively by top match anglers within the Guru team, both at home and abroad, and tweaked as necessary.
The end result was so good, and the technology that we’d used proved so effective, that it made sense to also bring out a slightly more affordable version of it, which still retained most of the same attributes, although using a slightly lower grade of carbon, and the Zero700 was also added to the Aventus range.
The only real difference between the two models, in terms of the build, is that the top-end one uses Zero900 Super Tensile Carbon and the other is built with Zero700 Tensile Carbon, and all the rest of the Guru technology and features are the same on both.
The difference between a super high (Zero900) and high (Zero700) modulus Japanese carbon is reflected though, not only in the relative price, but also in the performance of the two poles, and especially so when used at 14.3m or 16m, when the Zero900 really comes into its own, and is noticeably superior to the Zero700 in terms of stiffness in particular, at these lengths.
Both the Zero900 and Zero700 are built using ultra-fast taper mandrels, which means that the diameter of the pole quickly goes from thick to thin, which achieves ultimate level of stiffness, whilst at the same time being incredibly strong, and with the perfect weight distribution to make it as easy as possible to use, in any weather conditions and even when at its full length.
Super Glide Smooth Paint Finish involves the use of a super smooth matt paint finish, which allows for smoother shipping through your hands and gives you more control. There is also a Friction Free Matt Tape Finish on the rest of the pole which achieves the same result, and makes it as easy to use as possible, in all conditions and even when your hands are wet, or sticky from bait.
Performance Points on each section help ensure that you can get them aligned just right, to maximise the performance of the pole via the ‘spine’ that runs from butt to tip.
RJS Rigid Joint System uses super tensile carbon joints for the maximum amount of rigidity possible, as well as reducing how quickly they wear.
These two models are the ultimate in pole design and provide the perfect set up for any type of pole fishing on commercial or natural venues, thanks to the five different top kits that are available and which cover any type of elastic you choose – Match, Match Power, Carp Power, F1 and F1 Sky. These top kits are designed to fit either the Zero900 or Zero700 models (the A-Class top kits are also fully compatible and interchangeable with the Aventus ones), and come in a standard 2.4m length, or 1.8m for the F1 kits.
They come supplied with True Extension sections (suitable for the length of pole that you opt for, 16m or 13m) which fit either model and bring the pole to the exact stated length, which is essential when using them for competition fishing and where there are strict rules about pole length, and these True Extensions are also sold separately.
There are other options as well that are generic to both the Zero900 and Zero700, including Safe Sections, which come in a choice of 4/5 or 6/7. These are useful to protect the more expensive Aventus pole sections in certain situations, such as when you are speed fishing and shipping the pole back and breaking down the pole quickly, or if you are fishing right at the end of the section and might be worried about crushing the more fragile Zero900 or Zero700 sections that the pole comes supplied with. They are reversible so will fit into either of the no.4 or no.5 sections, or the no.6 or no.7 sections, depending which one you choose.
Plus there is a Short No.3 section that has been designed to make either Aventus model more responsive, and are primarily designed for use on commercial fisheries.
Two different Aventus Cupping Kits are also available, with a Standard Cupping Kit measuring 2.33m, or a 1.73m F1 Cupping Kit, and once a Guru Rapid Release Pole Cup (sold separately) and adapter have been fitted to the end of either of them, it brings the cupping kits up to the exact same length as the relevant top kit that you’re using and will give you pinpoint accuracy.
A variety of different pack options are available in 16m or 13m for both the Zero900 and Zero700 – with the Zero900 also sold as a pole-only package – which come with different top kit options, and this can be customised even further with the 16m packs as you get three extra top kits of your choice (you can mix and match any of them apart from the Match kit).
All of the poles also come with an Aventus Fusion Pole Holdall for whichever model you have chosen, to ensure that the pole can be safely stored and transported without fear of damaging it.
Matt Godfrey: “Confidence is everything. You’re in a World Championship, the pressure of having three lions on your shirt and a huge crowd behind you watching your every move. The last thing you need to be doing is doubting a single percentage of your pole’s performance and I can honestly say that when I’m using the Zero900, doubt never enters my head. Not only do I feel at an advantage because of the stiffness, balance and kit configurations available, but I can focus 100% on the fishing and be as aggressive as possible, pushing my speed, efficiency and accuracy to the limits thanks to the conviction I have in the strength and durability of it.”
Matt has also put the Aventus Zero700 to good use, and his prototype is still going strong four year down the line. He revealed: “There are certain scenarios in highly competitive fishing when strength is an overpowering asset you really need in your favour. Snag fishing, extremely windy conditions, demanding situations like flat float fishing on powerful rivers, tackling deep venues where maximum pressure is put on the larger sections of your pole to name a few. It’s these circumstances when having the Zero700 in my armoury gives me 100% confidence. It’s a special piece of kit that retains incredible performance while carrying this intense strength factor that enables you to fish with complete assurance in extreme and challenging situations. I’ve not been fishing without that pole in my holdall, and four years down the line that same prototype still comes with me after multiple years of hammer…I’m not the most delicate handed angler out there either!”

Aventus Top Kits
A wide range of different top kits is available both in the Zero900 and Zero700 range, as well as generic Aventus kits that are designed to be used with either model, or with the A-Class poles. These kits will cover any type of fishing and any elastic you should choose to use, from the lightest right up to the most powerful Hydro elastic, and there will be one that specifically suits whatever type of fishing that you are doing and allows you to have spare top kits set up ready to go when needed.
Both of the Zero900 and Zero700 ranges feature three Match Kits of each model, each with a 3.5mm internal bush, with 2.4m Top 2; 3.9m Top 3; and 5.5m Top 4 versions. The generic Aventus range of Top 2 kits come in a 4.7mm Match Power 2.4m Kit; a 5.8mm Carp Power 2.4m Kit; a 4.7mm F1 1.8m Kit; and a 4.7mm F1 Sky 1.8m Kit.
Aventus True Extensions
These can be used with either Aventus model and are designed to bring the pole to the exact stated length and ensure that it complies with the rules of competition fishing, both domestically and internationally. There are three versions available – 14.3/16m, 13m, and 11.5m – and they are reinforced for extra strength, as well as featuring a domed butt that allows for easier shipping back through any vegetation behind you.
Aventus Safe Sections
These are designed to protect the more delicate Zero900 and Zero700 pole sections in situation where you are speed fishing, or are fishing at full length and there is a risk of crushing the end of the section with your elbow. There are two options – a 4/5 or a 6/7 Safe Section – which are reversible to fit in either of the stated sections that each model is designed for use with.
Aventus Short No.3 Section
This can be used with either the Zero900 or the Zero700 and is designed to make either pole even more responsive and rigid, and particularly when fishing on commercial venues, such as for F1s.
Aventus Cupping Kits
There are two different cupping kits available, 2.33m Standard and 1.73m F1, and they’ve been designed for pin-point accuracy and without the need for them to be cut back at all. Once you’ve fitted a Guru Rapid Release Adaptor (this needs to be glued on and we recommend Araldite or Gorilla Epoxy) and the Guru Rapid Release Pole Cup, these Aventus Cupping Kits will be exactly the same length as the top kits, ensuring you are always fishing exactly where your loosefeed is going in.
