How To - Tie Matt Godfrey's Free Running Feeder Rig

Guru and England International Matt Godfrey uses a free-running feeder rig in most of his natural water feeder work, here’s exactly how he goes about tying it;

You will Need

Feeder Link

0.22mm Pure Fluorocarbon

Serrated Scissors

Step 1

Thread The Feeder Link

Slide feeder link on to the main line using the small eye of the diamond eye swivel.

Step 2

Cutting Pure Flurocarbon

Take around 40cm of 0.22mm Pure Fluorocarbon and lay it across your main line

Step 3

Attach The Two Lines

Attach these two pieces of line by tying a 4-turn water knot.

Step 4

Trim The Tags

Trim the tags of the knot off neatly using Serrated Scissors

Step 5

Prepare The Boom

Measure out around 20cm of Pure Flurocarbon from the knot and tie a simple figure of 8 loop.

Step 6

Finishing The Rig

Finally, attach your hook length to the loop you’ve just created. Making sure you put the main line loop through the hook length loop, threading your hook through this loop for best results.
