Langold Lakes, Nottinghamshire.
Address:
Langold Country Park
Church Street
Langold
S81 9NW
A stunning venue, set in the middle of a 300 Acre Country Park, Langold Lake is a place that both match and specimen anglers can enjoy together, teaming with an abundance of species! There are carp to over 30lb in the lake, with dozens of 20lb plus fish and low to high doubles that are in great condition with a mix of commons and mirrors. There’s also a big head of bream, skimmers, roach, perch and tench, that not only make up some great nets of fish in matches, but provide stunning pleasure sport too. If that’s not enough, the lake is also home to plenty of pike, and from November to February, there are always some great pike catches with fish to over 20lb present.
The venue offers lots of versatility, with over 60 very comfortable pegs, including a mixture of match-style platforms that isolate anglers away from the footpath, to large double-peg carp swims with lots of room for bivvies and a comfy specimen setup. Depth wise, the lake runs from a shallow top end with depths of 1-5ft where a stream enters the venue, running down to a deeper end of the lake where the dam wall is, and depths head down to 14ft. The lake is surrounded by trees, with an old swimming pier providing a great feature for big fish, as well as a luscious island that is a prime fish holding area too.
Langold Lake is also home to the Guru Feeder Cup event, a series of 30-peg qualifying matches that run over the Winter months, leading towards a £10,500 payout final! Tickets are normally released in Autumn and advertised on all Tackle Guru Social media. To qualify you need to win you’re 10-peg section. The winner of the final picks up a whopping £5000, with £3000 for second, £1000 for third, and there are three £500 section prizes!
On site there is a stunning lake walk on clean paths, with play areas, a café, and woodland. There are plenty of local facilities, takeaways, pubs and restaurants close by, and access from both the M1 and A1 motorways short and easy. This is a prolific match and pleasure venue just outside the village of Kiveton, very close to Junction 31 of the M1. There are three lakes on site, with 80 generously spaced, comfortable pegs in total. The main match lake, Roses Pool, is home to the biggest fish on site, with carp ranging from 3lb to 20lb, but the average stamp being 6lb-10lb. In here there’s also a generous head of skimmers and other silvers too. The two other lakes are stocked full of smaller carp, 2lb to 4lb, with a good helping of larger fish to well over double figures.
All the lakes are spacious, with reed lined margins and depths sloping away from shallow edges to a maximum of 7 feet in the middle. All kinds of tactics work on here, of course pole fishing, as well as waggler and feeder. The back lake at the venue has a lovely island to target, and is not match fished very often, being a favourite for pleasure anglers with beautifully conditioned carp to catch.
Access wise, there is a main car park and you can drive all the way around the venue, parking behind almost every swim. There is a small on-site café, bait shack and tackle den that can supply you with essential terminal items. The brilliantly stocked Aston Park Angling centre is just a few minutes drive away if there are any key items or bait you require at short notice.
There are open matches at the venue mid-week and at weekends, check out the Embryo Kiveton Waters social media pages for updates and info. This venue, as well as Aston Park Fishery, is also home to the Guru Commercial Masters. This is an event that has a £21,000 prize pot, with a £10,000 payout to the winner of the two-day final. There are 10 qualifiers at Aston Park and 10 at Kiveton Waters, and to qualify for the final a 10-peg section win in one of these is all you need! The final itself is two days, and fished across Kiveton and Aston, with anglers swapping venues one day to the next. Tickets are available now via the link here: LINK HERE TO TICKETS FOR THIS.
