Dean Macey is a former Great British decathlete, who found substantial success in his athletics career. He won the 2006 Commonwealth Games decathlon in Melbourne, two world championships medals and two fourth-place finishes in the Olympic Games. However, he is also an avid specimen angler who has caught an admirable list of big fish across a wide array of different species, including an epic eight-pound chub and barbel over 20-pounds! His love and knowledge for fishing have seen him co-present many popular fishing programmes including, Fishing Allstars, Fishing Gurus and The Big Fish Off with Korda’s Ali Hamidi. On this episode of the podcast, Matt and Dean take a trip down memory lane. They discuss all the highs and lows of Dean’s athletic career, why he began fishing and how he has caught so many amazing fish.
