Brilliant new series of The Big Fish Off kicks off tonight on ITV4!

The new series of The Big Fish Off kicks off this Thursday, March 16, with an explosive episode that will have you glued to your TV screen!

There are tantrums, wind-ups and even accusations of cheating, as Ricky Hatton goes up against fellow boxing legend Johnny Nelson, under the guidance of team captains Ali Hamidi and Dean Macey!

The whole crew head off to the Cotswolds, staying at The Lakes by Yoo estate, which put them just a short distance away from some great fishing.

Challenge one involves the two teams targeting tench at Horcott Lakes, near Fairford, and they soon discover that accurate casting is the key to success! Johnny takes to it like a duck to water, even though he has never picked up a rod before.

But despite having fished when he was younger, Ricky becomes very frustrated at his efforts – with a number of casts ending up tree-bound - and it isn’t long before there is some friction between himself and his team captain, Ali.

The two teams have to endure some horrendous weather conditions, with persistent rain, but are still hopeful of hooking a few tench before the end of the day, but we’ll have to wait and see if ‘The Hitman’ can overcome his earlier problems.

Thankfully the weather brightens up for the second day, as the teams head off to Wood Pool, on the Bradleys complex, with the focus being carp.

Challenge two is all about accumulating as many points as possible, and it all boils down to catching the bigger carp, as these will gain the anglers more points! At times it gets very competitive as the two former champion boxers go toe-to-toe, and that spills over to the team captains as well, especially when things don’t exactly go to plan!

The final challenge is all about total weight, as Ali, Ricky, Dean and Johnny head to Walters Lake, South Cerney, which is renowned for producing big match weights, including numerous carp which can run to well over 20lb!

This challenge sees Ricky and Johnny getting to grips with pole fishing, something that is alien to both of them, but that doesn’t prevent Johnny from engaging in a few wind-ups as the day goes on. It all gets quite serious, as there is a dispute over the rules and even an accusation of cheating, as they get to grips with carp, bream and silver fish, and trying to catch as big a bag of them as possible!

The action will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout, as there is very little to separate the teams throughout the three challenges, but which team will ultimately be able to claim victory? You’ll have to tune in to find out!
